Orcish Empire of Dransk

Viimase viiekümne aasta jooksul tekkinud suurt hulka tavapäraselt nomaadse eluviisiga Orc-i hõime ühendav Impeerium, üles ehitatud Gruumsh-i kummardamisele. Selle aja jooksul on võetud üle endine kaubanduslinn, nimetatud see Gruumgrad-iks (old Elvish ruins of Calemnorn, Human name: Greenharbour) ning ehitatud täis töökodasid, barrakke, kindlusi ja templeid.(Egypt, phaoraod jms). Viimase paarikümne aastaga on luureinfot järjest vähemaks jäänud, sest orkid tegelevad aktiivse spioonipüüdmisega, blokeerinud teiste rasside kaubandust ja võtnud kasutusele anti-scrying maagia.

Duchy Of Iskre

Last loyal remnant of once great Empire of Men which used to cover most of the areas surrounding the Inner Sea and beyond until The Great Splintering, it is now threatened by the westward expansion of the Empire of Dransk. An offshoot of the great lineage of the Last Emperor still rules the Duchy until current times ever since a troublesome sister of then Emperor was banished there. Current Lady of The North princess Ingrid Johanssen has almost stopped the advance of the Orcish tribes after a military alliance with Northern Dwarfhold.

Northern Dwarfhold

Dwarfide mägikunigriigid, mittedwarfidele on avatud ainult üks väline kindlus per Hold (Khazad Ak'Varr) ning dwarfid ise on üsna kidakeelsed kõige kohta, mis toimub mägede sisemuses. Toodavad enamuse maailmas kasutatavatest relvadest, ehetest ja maagilistest esemetest. Erandiks on Khazad Thingaz located in the mountains directly on the path of the Orcish invasion of Iskre and only dwarf fortress directly participating in battle and allowing Iskerian forces to pass through. There are still inner areas where no non-dwarf is allowed.

History

Old Empire of Men

The Old Empire of Men was an ancient empire spanning most of the land around the Inner Sea until around 500 years ago. It was mostly characterized by its human focus, with most other races treated as second class citizens. Any dissent was brutally put down by the numerous armies, but it brought peace and stability to the region and guarded against Orcish and any wild men raids. The Great Splintering is one biggest Age-defining moments in recent history, putting the end to the Era of Unity(age of the great Empire of Men and relative stability it brought) and starting the Era of Conquest.
When the Last Emperor of the Empire of Men died without a heir in suspicious circumstances, the resulting powerstruggle and civil war broke the Empire apart in only 5 short years. With many previous duchys declaring their sovereignty or breaking apart into even smaller kingdoms.
The biggest and first breakaway state was the Kingdom of Kromord and there are many rumors of foul play, especially with their stated goal of uniting the Empire of Men once again, but so far none of them have been proven and at this point it is ancient history.

Northern Alliance

Threatened by the orcish invasion the the Northern Dwarves agreed to a military alliance with the Duchy of Iskre. At first only supplying the armies of Men with weapons and magical items and allowing to use passageways for troop movement. But as the Last War progressed more and more dwarves joined the defence.

The Last War

An extensive military campaign by the Empire of Dransk around 30 years ago, which almost resulted in the loss of Iskerian capital of Snoborg, ended when a combined force of remaining defenders and dwarwish legions broke the siege by assaulting the main orcish force from secret mountain tunnels and killed the Orcish War Commander Bolga Balgarog and his elite guard. Most tribes not directly affiliated with the commander and getting bored from the months long siege used the death as an excuse to broke their alliances and leave back to their homelands. The war left heavy scars on both the land and the people, almost third of all fighting aged men died and all settlements outside the final defensive line were razed.

Current Situation

Ever since the Last War 30 years ago, the current border's defensive line has seen upgrades and heavy propaganda to keep it constantly manned and prepared. In addition a new type of force was formed, The Border Scouts - to gather information of any dangers beyond the border and to give advance warning of any impending attack. Preferring small fast moving units focusing mostly on stealth and hit and run tactics if needed, according to the Propaganda, they are the Elite of the elite.

Over the last 30 years the wilderness has reclaimed most of the former settlements and routes, bandits and the occasional orcish warband has made movement beyond the fortified border difficult without full military co-operation. Border scouts, hunters and the occasional treasure hunter has been the only human presence beyond the border walls.

There has been a push in the recent years to reclaim mines and other valuable resources beyond the border and several heavily fortified settlements have been formed, but the horrors of war are still fresh on everyone's mind which hamper large scale expansion. There have been talks about reclaiming and fortifying the border wall from before the Last War, but so far no firm plans have been established. Outer settlements and trade convoys rely on the Border Scouts and heavy escorts.

Recent years have been mostly peaceful, but reports of increased movement in orcish border villages and increased attacks on trade caravans have put the Border Scouts on high alert in recent months. Even worryingly several scouts sent deeper into orcish territory have not reported back and there have been several sightings of raiding ships around the coasts. In response the recruitment drive for more border scouts and constant patrols outside the usual watchposts have been ordered. Most border forts have scrambled to put together enough units to fulfill the demands of new orders, resulting in sometimes unusual compositions.

The first scout units have finished training and have been sent out to provide reinforcement and relief of current patrols and watchposts. With several more in the end stages of training.

During the night a 4 man advance party keeping watch about 50km(an 10 hr journey) from the border sent a Sending saying “Commander, we are…” no further contact was made and they could not be Scryed. Fearing the worst, first available unit is sent to investigate.
